Many people, Gleeks included, don’t really understand Glee’s connection to Comic Con, and neither do we. The largest pop culture convention in the world, The San Diego Comic Con, is mostly reserved for comic book geeks with panels on the subject.
Comic Con has also been a great launching point for movies and television shows that would appeal to that crowd. Studios like Warner Bros. have been bringing their shows to the convention and have been screening their pilots for years hoping to create buzz for their new season’s offerings.
Movies like Iron Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, and TV shows like The Big Bang Theory and The Vampire Diaries all make sense. But when you think of the show Glee, SDCC doesn’t really come to mind. But as big fans of the show, we welcome it and are glad that the show is presented there.
We were extremely excited at how well the second episode “Showmance” was received by the audience at Comic Con — most of whom were waiting for the Heroes panel that immediately followed — and the great reactions it brought out.
We’ve been to every Glee panel at Comic Con so it was a shock when FOX released their schedule of shows appearing at the Con with one glaring omission — Glee wasn’t on the list!
Thankfully though, in a TVLine exclusive, they reported that the show will indeed be there for its fourth year in a row!
TVLine has learned exclusively that Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz and Naya Rivera are confirmed to headline the panel, which is set to take place in the Indigo Room on Saturday, July 14 from 6 to 7 pm PST.
So there you have it. Will you be going to the San Diego Comic Con and attend the Glee panel? We certainly are! See you there!
